Egypt's military council urges end of strikes

CAIRO, February 14 (RIA Novosti) - The Supreme Council of the Egyptian armed forces reiterated on Monday its call to opposition activists and labor leaders to end protests and return to work. On Monday several thousand people gathered on Cairo's central Tahrir Square, the heart of million-strong opposition protests that swept President Hosni Mubark from office on Friday, celebrating their victory and demanding future democratic reforms. Thousands or workers, predominantly from state companies, went on strike over wages and working conditions.
