Stevie Wonder extortion scheme revealed
A man and woman have been arrested and charged in Los Angeles over an alleged extortion plot against blind singer Stevie Wonder.
One of those arrested, Alpha Lorenzo Walker, 38, is believed to be Stevie Wonder's nephew.
The other person has been named as Tamara Eileen Diaz.
Police have alleged the pair threatened the singer with blackmail, telling him they would release embarrassing information unless money was handed over.
The Los Angeles District Attorney's office said the demand involved a sum of US$5 million.
Undercover police posing as representatives of the musician persuaded the pair to lower their demand before the arrest.
Walker and Diaz have already pleaded not guilty to extortion.
They being held in jail prior to determination of whether a full trial should go ahead.
