WASHINGTON -- U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has died, the Supreme Court said Friday.

"Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg died this evening surrounded by her family at her home in Washington, D.C., due to complications of metastatic pancreas cancer. She was 87 years old," the Supreme Court said in a press release.

NEW YORK -- Global COVID-19 deaths surpassed 950,000 on Friday, according to the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University.

The global death toll from the disease reached 950,434, with a total of 30,395,579 cases worldwide as of 10:23 p.m. (0223 GMT Saturday), the CSSE data showed.

WASHINGTON -- The U.S. military said Friday that it had deployed radar systems and armored vehicles to northeastern Syria, weeks after a collision incident between the U.S. and Russian military vehicles in the region.

"The United States has deployed Sentinel radar, increased the frequency of U.S. fighter patrols over U.S. forces, and deployed Bradley Fighting Vehicles to augment U.S. forces in the Eastern Syria Security Area (ESSA)," U.S. Central Command Spokesman Bill Urban said in a statement. LIMA -- Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra discounted the validity of the audios that allegedly link him to the misuse of government funds while speaking to Congress on Friday.

The Congress announced last week that it would open impeachment proceedings against the president according to the leaked audio recordings. Vizcarra might be removed from office if found guilty.
