Russia's Ludmilla Samsonova capped a breakthrough week with a 1-6, 6-1, 6-3 victory over No. 5 seed Belinda Bencic of Switzerland to win the Bett1Open title on Sunday in Berlin.

The unseeded Samsonova, 22, finished with 14 aces and fended off five of seven break opportunities in winning her maiden title. Samsonova is the fifth qualifier to make it to a singles final this season, but the first to do at a WTA 500 level event.

It was the second loss in a final for Bencic this season. She lost to Iga Swiatek of Poland in the final of the Adelaide International in February.

No. 2 seed Ons Jabeur of Tunisia edged No. 4 Daria Kasatkina of Russia 7-5, 6-4 to claim her first career title in Birmingham, England.

The victory is the first on the WTA tour by an Arab woman and improves Jabeur's record this year to 28-10.

Jabeur nearly earned her first title against Kasatkina in the 2018 Moscow final, when she led 6-2, 4-1 but wound up falling in three sets.
